SERVICES

HOWEVER MUCH HELP YOU NEED.

Some people want a designer to handle everything from the floor plan to the throw pillows. Others want to stay in the room for every decision. Both work, and most people land somewhere in the middle.

OVERVIEW OF THE SERVICES I OFFER

I'll happily design one or two rooms, and some of my favorite projects started that way. I've learned that whole-home projects tend to turn out best because the colors, fabrics, finishes, and furniture can flow from room to room instead of stopping at a doorway. Very small one-off requests, like sourcing a single window treatment, usually aren't the right fit for how I work.

A note on scope…

Most projects are billed hourly plus a commission on purchased goods. For some projects, a flat design fee makes more sense. We'll talk through the scope, the fee, and the purchasing structure before anything starts, so you know exactly how it works before the first invoice.

Furnishings are purchased at my designer cost and marked up 25 to 30 percent, which still comes in below suggested retail. That's discussed up front too. No surprises is the whole idea.

How it's billed

I buy through a trade-only designer showroom that serves both Florida and North Carolina, with more than 300 brands that aren't available to the public. I also work with a short list of finish carpenters, upholsterers, painters, and custom furniture builders I trust, plus artists and antique sources across both states.

And once things start arriving, I handle it. Receiving, storage until the room is ready, inspecting every piece, and sorting out repairs, replacements, or claims when something shows up damaged. You shouldn't have to spend your Tuesday on hold with a freight company.

What you get that you can't get alone

Where I work

I keep homes in both Western North Carolina and the Sarasota, Florida, area, so I work comfortably in both markets.

  • Florida: Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Bird Key, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, and the surrounding Gulf Coast.

  • North Carolina: Asheville and Western NC.

I also take projects elsewhere in the country. I do like to make at least one in-person visit so I can see the space with my own eyes, and after that, most of the work can happen over Zoom, phone, and email.

Most people aren't. Tell me about the space, and I'll tell you honestly what it calls for, even if the answer is less than you expected.
